“In a quiet glade there sits a statue, cluttered with old swords. They say if a soldier dies in battle that their sword should be laid by the statue's side and an offer should be made.
If you're lucky and Sigmar smiles on you then he will take the fallen soldier into his embrace and breath new life into them as one of his legion.”
This small diorama depicting a statue surrounded by wildlife was created as part of a competition for the Warhammer Falkirk store’s anniversary. The challenge was to create something using a 6” * 4” photo frame to “frame” the scene.
My goal was never to actually compete, it was more to simply try and see if I could complete such a complex build in such a short span of time (I believe I only had 3 weekends to work on this) and so it was a pleasant surprise to win. This also left me with the honour of getting something I’d painted in a GW store window, something I’d wanted to achieve since I first looked in one of those windows and got hooked on the hobby.
